Getting backlinks to your site

Everyone wants to get a quality backlink to their site. This is important to get a higher PR and also important to attract new readers as well as for SEO purposes. Getting backlinks is easy but how do we get a quality backlink back to our site and it’s a one way backlink, not a two way backlink? In case you didn’t know, 2 way backlink is also known as link exchange, where you put a link to another person’s blog or site and in return, they put your link back on their site.

The best way to get a quality one way backlink to your site is very simple. Do you ever heard of a web directory? Imagine the web directory like the yellow pages where people look for sites under related categories. There are a lot of web directories out there so you need to find some SEO friendly web directory. Some of them are free, some of them are charging a lot of money to get listed. Some of the famous directory are like Yahoo! Directory and DMOZ. Yahoo! Directory isn’t free and it costs a lot. On the other hand, DMOZ is free but it’s really hard to get listed there.

Some people say that’s it’s better to submit to a low PR directory like Max directory. This is because you need to work your way up in Page Rank. Sometimes, it’s bad to have a lot of high ranking sites to refer to you as you start your blog or site. Google might be thinking that you are getting the linkbacks because of buying text link advertisement and this is not good. Google hates buying and selling text links.

Other criteria that you should look into when posting your links into web directory is to find a do-follow web directory and that a high traffic web directory. This will attract more traffic to your site or blog and if you’re good enough, they will become your regular readers!
